I wish I could just sit amongst you guys so I could listen to you "talk subway." As a Las Vegas resident for the last 25 years, one of our shared hometown's virtues was the subway system. I worked as a Tour Guide at the New York Transit Museum right out of high school. My favorite route was the N...with the R32s and R38s on it. A rare and somewhat lesser treat was the N when a train of R40s would show up.

The 8 is coming back possibly making a share with the 2 from Wakefield-241st Street and then share with the 3 from Franklin Avenue to New Lots Avenue. Now what I can see the T head to when getting into The Bronx at the new lower level at 138th Street-Grand Concourse make it’s way to 149th Street-Grand Concourse to 3rd Avenue-149th Street and then on the 3rd Avenue elevated line from 3rd Avenue-156th Street to Gun Hill Road, but we should extend the 2nd Avenue Subway to South Ferry after Hanover Square

I believe the reason why the (G) is small is because its yards [Coney Island and Jamaica Yards] are extremely far away from the Crosstown Line. It has to go through the Culver Line/QBL just to start service. If the trains are too long, that could eat up capacity of revenue service. In my opinion, here is what needs to be done: - Make Church Avenue Yard a full fledged yard: This is for a simple reason, it allows the (G) trains to be independent from other trains in QBL, allowing (G) trains to run at least 8-car trains. - Reconfigure the service patterns at QBL: Right now, it is kind of a mess. While there is some partial deinterlining at QBL with the F/M swap, it is still a capacity killer considering that 53rd Street is a rather busy part of QBL, while 63rd Street becomes empty. Plus, it does not help that the (R) reverse-branches with QBL. For the second point, here is how I would reconfigure QBL: - Make 8th Avenue service be QBL Express and 6th Avenue service be QBL Local till 36th Street with new platforms along Northern Boulevard at the 63rd Street Line: This provides a clean separation between the 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue services. Have the (C) reroute to QBL with the (E) [making the (A) the CPW/8th Ave Local]. The (C) goes to Jamaica Center, while the (E) goes to 179th Street. F/M will go to 179th Street as well. - Remove the (R) entirely and have the (W) replace the (R) in Brooklyn: This removes the reverse-branching within the Broadway Local, Astoria, and QBL Local. The (W) should have a yard in Astoria, as much as NIMBYs hate it. - Have the (G) extended to Queens Plaza as its new north terminal: With Broadway out of QBL and 6th Avenue being separate from Queens Plaza at QBL, this leaves a potential cross-platform transfer available for the (G). Have either tail tracks northeast of Queens Plaza, or just have an interlocking switch between Queens Plaza and Court Square, to facilitate the new terminal.
